| The firm was established in 1913 with Mr. A. Sudborough Managing Director, Mr. F. A. Sudborough Director and Secretary, and Mr. H. Clifton Director and Traveller. After a lifetime of practical experience in the trade, they commenced the business at Higham Ferrers, and acquired a factory, equipping it with all the latest and best machinery. The trade extending they bought a warehouse and property for storage purposes. In 1915 the factory was bought and the adjoining site, and the new extension thereon is nearing completion. When complete this will give them a frontage of 160 feet and a warehouse and office frontage in Commercial Street of 135 feet, making fine looking and commodious premises. The trade they do so well is Men’s Good Medium Class Welted Machine-sewn, Stitched and Screwed Work for all Markets. They are good fitting and smart shapes, with sizes and half sizes in all fittings. All through their business career the firm have, as far as humanly possible, served their friends "the trade" loyally and honestly, and hope in the fullness of time this will be remembered m their favour. At present they are largely employed on Government work, having been allotted British, Russian, Cossack and Italian boots, which are giving every satisfaction. They buy and sell largely on short terms and produce fine sound goods for all markets. |
