Mr. Pitts, in conjunction with his brother, the late Mr. Alfred Pitts, established the business in 1904, and has made excellent progress on the best lines. The latter died in January, 1911. The firm produce medium-class footwear of fine value and excellent quality for all the wholesale and export markets. The head of the firm is thoroughly practical in all that appertains to boot and shoe manufacture, and has a factory replete with the latest and best machinery for producing the specialties of the house Mr. Pitts is keen in business and able to place good value on the market, being well served by those acting with him in the firm.
Corp. H. B. Pitts, Rifle Brigade, and Private C. Pitts, Northants Regiment, are brothers of Mr. E. J. Pitts, the former, unfortunately, lost both arms at the battle of Loos. Another brother, Private W. L. Pitts, 1st Cameronians, stretcher-bearer, was killed on February 12th, 1916.
