Alarming Accident
Goods Express of the Line at Irchester

Wreckage by the side of the line.

An alarming accident befell the 12.20 goods train express from London to Scotland at Irchester at five minutes past three on Friday morning last.

The train, which consisted of about twenty wagons and a guard’s can, was proceeding down the gradient from Sharnbrook, and when it had about reached the station one of the wagons jumped the metals, owing to the axle box running hot and the spring falling out when it was to cross the points.
