Rushden Echo, 16th June 1905, transcribed by Kay Collins
Irchester Sunday School TreatThe scholars of the Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist Sunday Schools had their annual treat on Tuesday. At two o’clock they assembled at the Wesleyan Chapel and, headed by the Co-operative Brass Band, paraded the village. About 300 children were present, bearing flags and banners. At various places in the village hymns were sung. The children afterwards sat down to tea in the Wesleyan schoolroom, their wants being well looked after by the teachers and friends. After tea an adjournment was made to a field kindly lent by Mr E Parsons, where games and sports were indulged in. The band, under the able conductorship of Mr Whitworth, of Rushden, played a choice selection of music.
