Rescue—Yesterday afternoon at Little Irchester a boy, Ernest Ingram, aged eight, of Little Irchester, fell into the river near the Mill. Mr Wallis, who keeps the Crown and Anchor Inn, heard a shout that someone was in the river. Before he could get a boat a man named Goodman, of Wellingborough, employed at J B Whitworth’s mill, rushed from the bridge, and rescued the boy. The lad was brought to the bank, revived by artificial respiration, and was then taken home to his parents.

Help for Injured Man - Tricycle Purchased at Little Irchester

Thanks to a number of kindly disposed persons, a sum of £144 has been raised for the purchase of a tricycle for Mr. W. Hart, of Little Irchetser, who met with an accident in the course of his work at the ironstone pits in 1940.

To raise this splendid amount a committee was formed, a subscription list was helped by means of a dance, concert, whist drive, social and auction sale, competitions, etc. Mr. S. Wilford (Messrs. H. Wilford, auctioneers) generously assisted the fund by his services and in other ways.
