Old Church 'Clock' Rushden, Mr Fisher told me on Saturday Feb 15th 1908, that the 1st Clock from Rushden Church is in Wymington Church, & the date upon it was 1736, made at & sold by a man at Kettering. Stanwick, Wellingborough & Knotting Church Clocks were by the same man, so I do not now know whether the Clock 'Weight’ I found last Sunday (Feb 9 1908) in the yard against Vestry Hall (& which is now inside the organ case) belonged to the Clock at Wymington or the one at Hargrave; the 'weight' is a very rough stone with ring put in with lead. Dedication of Instrument at Hargrave

The new organ

Tuesday of last week will long be remembered by the people of Hargrave, for its crowned with success their efforts to raise sufficient funds to purchase a new organ for the church. The day was all that could be desired to make the event successful, and everyone seemed cheered by the presence of the Ven. Archdeacon of Oakham, who dedicated the instrument and that worthy lady Mrs. Bartholomew of Blakesby Hall, who unlocked it.

The organ, which is one manual and pedals and has ten stops, was supplied by Messrs. Roberts and Tanner (Raunds) at a cost of £180.

Mr. J. Roberts (Ringstead) was the organist, and in the evening demonstrated before a large and appreciative congregation, the qualities of the organ with a fine programme. Mrs. B. Green (Hargrave) also very feelingly rendered “The Lost Chord” and “Nearer my God to Thee” her solos being very much enjoyed.

Prior to the organ recital a public tea was provided in the Schoolroom, when about 100 sat down to enjoy the good things, catered for by the Raunds Co-op Society.
