Wanted, a Transfer Pupil Teacher in her second or third year, for the Infants' Department of the above Schools.—Apply, stating salary required, on or before the 10th day of December instant, to the Clerk of the School Board, Higham Ferrers. Duties to commence 31st Dec. 1883.

School Examination—On Thursday evening the scholars attending the evening classes at the Board Schools were examined by H.M. Inspector. After the examination the scholars and members of the Board were entertained to supper by the Master.

A Handsome Bronze Medal, in case has been awarded to Roland Cox, attending the Higham Ferrers Board School, by Lord Strathcona, High Commissioner for Canada, for excellence in competitive examination on the Geography, History, resources, &c., of Canada. The presentation was made on Friday by Mr. S. Pack, Chairman of the School Board, who suitably addressed the scholars on the occasion.

Presentation to a teacher—As a mark of esteem, Miss Chambers, who has resigned her position on the teaching staff at the Council Schools, was on Monday presented with a pair of candlesticks and a silver-backed hair brush and comb. Alderman T Patenall, chairman of the School Managers, made the presentation on behalf of the teachers and managers, and spoke in high praise of Miss Chambers’ fifteen years’ service.

HIGHAM FERRERS - EXHIBITION—The annual exhibition of the evening classes was held in the schools on Friday, when a large number of scholars and friends attended. The work showed general excellence, and reflects great credit upon Mr. Margetts and his staff.

The second annual Parents' Day was held at the Council Schools yesterday week, about 150 parents attending. The school was opened to the visitors in the afternoon, and much interest was taken in the displayed work by the scholars' drawings, handicraft, etc. A demonstration was given by the girls, consisting of singing, reciting, dancing, etc. The entertainment was highly instructive to the visitors.
