Higham Ferrers Castle Field

Former site of Higham Castle - now a recreation area.

These carved logs are part of a 300+ year old oak tree, felled after a long effort to save it failed. The logs are now in Castle Fields. This skilled work was carried out by “Carrie Yuen”.

Higham Ferrers Cycling Club
In 2022 following the opening of Chowns Mill roundabout the felled tree had been carved with creatures. Owls, rabbit, snail, hare, etc.
The log (left) with acorn and oak leaf carvings makes a bed for an hour or so............
