THE BELLS

The six bells of the Higham Ferrers Church, were taken down out of the Tower on Nov. 7 and days following, and were taken to Messrs Taylor’s Foundry.  The work of repair is therefore fairly in hand.

They have no apparent meaning.
The bell is greatly in need of being re-cast.  [Re-cast 1892 – new inscription].

The Tenor

John Cutler – (a churchwarden)

nunquam ad preces cupies ire. [1633]
“If you do not wish to come with my sound, you will never desire to go to prayers.”
The note of this bell is E flat.

All except the treble have a shield, bearing three bells and a crown, the arms of the firm of Watts the founders of which firm Messrs Taylor are the successors.
