Vancouver, B.C., Canada, October, 1985
Transcribed by Greville Watson, 2014

15th October, 1985

Dear Sir,

On going through some papers of my father's recently, I came across the originals of the enclosed. I am sending the copies on to you for your interest and records.

My father, Walter Edmund Colchester, was curate at St. Mary's Church, Higham Ferrers, from June 1891 to June 1893. He was very keen on church bells and ringing, and much later, in 1920, wrote a book on the church bells of Hampshire, while he was Rector of St. Maurice and St. Lawrence, Winchester. He died in 1924.

If I can be of any further assistance, which I doubt, please do not hesitate to ask.

Yours truly,

Edmund Colchester

All being well some of us hope to be present at the opening on March 14th - Will you kindly let us know the order of proceedings when arranged.

When the masons are building up the bellchamber windows they must be careful with the mortar and dirt and not let any get into the bearings especially.

Yours very faithfully

John Taylor Co.
