KIDS home at Easton Maudit

News Echo, Thursday January 22nd 1976, transcribed by Kay Collins

Kids Home Gets £7,860 Cheque
Earl Compton, of the KIDS home at Easton Maudit, last week received the biggest single cheque – nearly £8,000 - for the charity.

The staggering sum was the profit of a special ball run by an organising committee set up by the KIDS home.

Mr Eric Brook, chairman of the committee and managing director of the Rushden building firm of Robert Marriott Ltd., made the presentation to Earl Compton at his Castle Ashby home.

The ball was held at Northampton and included such money-making ventures as an auction, advertising and competitions. Four hundred people, including Earl Compton attended.

Mr John Mulcahy, director of KIDS’ Charity, said: “This is definitely the biggest single cheque received for KIDS. We knew we were getting a large sum of money because Mr Brook organised it so efficiently and put so much time into it.”

The exact figure, £7,860.56, will help pay for running costs of the Easton Maudit home.
