Three year wait for bells repair
The Tower captain, Mr Rex Line, reported to the Parochial Council of St Mary’s Church, Bozeat, that a visit to the Whitechapel Foundry (London) confirmed that there was a three years waiting list for repairs to handbells.

Mr Line also said that the handbell ringers would have fund-raising events to cover the cost of the repairs to the handbells of the Church.

At the same meeting held last week at the Church Hall, Bozeat, Commander R J Cooper, from the Diocesan Board of Finance, spoke, and answered questions from Council members on Parish Shares. The meeting was chaired by the Vicar Rev N E Palmer, who afterwards thanked the commander for his expert advice.

Instigated by the teachers of the Methodist Church Sunday School, Bozeat, and further discussed at the Bozeat Council of Churches, there is to be a campaign, organised by the three churches in Bozeat, to gather more children from the new houses in the village into the three Sunday Schools.

The Vicar told the Parochial Council that work had started on the north wall of the Churchyard. It was to be rebuilt.

Application forms have gone out for would-be cubs to join a newly formed pack which will meet every Tuesday in the Church Hall. This is to be started with small numbers and gradually increased to full size. At the moment the Leaders are attending a training course and a parents; meeting is soon to be held and it is hoped Cub meetings will start in the early Spring.

Group Scout Master is Mr R M Handcock, Fullwell Road, Bozeat. The group will be attached to St Mary’s Church, Bozeat.

The Council members were interested in a notice from the Methodist Church, Bozeat, which is celebrating the centenary year in 1977. Among the special events, to mark the occasion, is a Flower festival fixed for May 28-29th 1977.

Fellowship
There were 31 members when the Women’s Fellowship held a meeting at the Methodist Church, Bozeat, to hear Mrs M Rowntree speak about the Twenty-third Psalm. Mrs Rowntree was also pianist for the singing and the Leader was Mrs M Tompkins. The psalm was read by Mrs P Silsby and one member, Mrs B Drage chose the hymn “Trust and obey”, for her birthday choice.
