Wellingborough News, 8th January 1892, transcribed by Kay Collins

THE ANNUAL TREAT given to the old people by the Independent Wesleyan Chapel Choir took place on Thursday last week. A large number responded to the invitation. A public tea was also provided and a good number sat down. In the evening an entertainment was given by the Choir and other friends, which was both instructive and interesting. Mr. T. Dickerson presided.

Mr W F Desborough, organist of the Wymington Wesleyan Chapel, has passed the following two examinations:- Incorporate Society of Musicians, grade three, pianoforte playing (pass); Trinity College, London, Intermediate Division, theoretical (honours). Mr Desborough, who is a pupil of Mr A F Parris, A.R.C.O., I.S.M., C.P.T.C.L., passed his examinations at Bedford on Dec. 12.

THE ANNIVERSARY of the Independent Wesleyan Sunday School was celebrated on Sunday last, when special services were conducted afternoon and evening by Mr. Drew, of Finedon. Good congregations assembled at both services, and special hymns were sung by the scholars, who had been trained by Mr. W. Desborough. Solos were sung at each service by Miss Willmott, and at the evening service, Mr. Headland also contributed a solo. The collections, on behalf of the Sunday school funds totalled £3 16s 2d.

Wymington – Party—The Independent Wesleyan Chapel’s annual old people’s tea was held in the Sunday School room on Saturday. Tea was provided by the carol singers, who also provided the refreshments, and the Rev J Sinfield welcomed all those present, including friends from Newton Bromswold, who gave a concert during the evening.

WYMINGTON ANNIVERSARY
The Sunday School anniversary of the Wymington Independent Wesleyan Church was held on Sunday. The church was tastefully decorated by the teachers and scholars. There were vocal items and recitations by scholars at both services.

Mr. W. Lawrence, Raunds, was the special preacher for the day. He presented the prizes for good attendance.

The collection amounted to £4 6s.
