Mr Arthur Watford, well-known licensee of the “Swan” Inn, Newton Bromshold, died on Tuesday at the age of 67, having been in poor health recently.
Formerly employed at Rushden as a boot operative, Mr Watford moved to Kettering in 1914 and became steward of the United Trades Club. He became landlord of the “swan” about 18 years ago.
Mr Watford married 45 years ago and his wife died rather suddenly last December. There are no children.
The funeral takes place at Rushden this afternoon (Friday).
