Village Feast

Rushden Echo, 10th July 1925, transcribed by Kay Collins

The Village Feast was duly celebrated on Saturday last.
The day-school scholars, accompanied by parents and friends, had their annual school picnic on Tuesday. Leaving Newton about 7.30a.m., they proceeded by charabanc, via Olney and Newport Pagnell, to Woburn. Here a stay of about an hour was made and lunch was partaken of. From there the journey was continued to Dunstable, where another halt was made, and then on to Luton. Here the afternoon was spent and so enjoyed. About 6p.m. the homeward journey was commenced via Bedford, where about a period of two hours was spent, the children and some of the adults enjoying a delightful little trip on the river in the meantime. Leaving Bedford about 9p.m., the happy party arrived home, via Knotting, Melchbourne, and Yelden, at 10p.m. Mr Harry Scroxton, as usual, supplied the motor-charabanc.
