Rushden Echo, 2nd May 1924, transcribed by Kay Collins

Social—An enjoyable social evening was held in the schoolroom on Saturday last. Tea was served at 4.45p.m., and a splendid programme was gone through later. Songs were sung by Mesdames A Mills, Bert Woodham, and J Taylor, Misses Gladys Barnett, Winnie Moore, Laura Sinfield, Bessie Sinfield, and Mr Cecil Hearn. Miss Frances Sears, elocutionist, gave some fine items, and a monologue was given by Mr J Taylor. Miss N Allpress and Mr Bert Deighton gave pianoforte solos. A humorous dialogue, “A Feast of Pancakes” was given, the characters being very ably taken by Gwen Sinfield, Gladys Barnett, Ted Lines, and Ted Chapman. Mr Harry Gadsden was the pianist. The tea and social had been promoted by the members of the Junior Needlework and Woodwork Classes, and in the absence of the president (Mrs Geo Hall, who is lying seriously ill at her residence) Mr J Taylor presided. Mr John Cooper proposed a vote of thanks to all those who had in any way contributed to make it such a very successful evening. Mr and Mrs Harry Gadsden and Mrs Alf Mills suitably responded. Games concluded the evening’s entertainment.
