Testamentum John Allingham of Newton Bromshold

In the name of God Amen the xiij th of July 1600
and the xlij th yeare of the Raygne of our Sov[er]aigne Lady Elizabeth
by the grace of god Queene of England Frannce and Ireland defender
of the faith I John Allingham of Newton Bromshold in the Countie
of North[am]ton yoman beinge of p[er]fect minde and memorie doe make this
my last will and testament in manner and forme following. First I
com[m]end and bequeath my soule unto the handes of allmightie god where
I trust to bee saved by the blood and merits of my lord and saviour
Jesus Christ and my body to be buryed in the Church or Church yeard of
the sayd Newton Bromshold. I give to the poorer sort of the poore of
Newton vj s viij d. I bequeath towards the repayre of the Church iij s iiij d
Item I bequeath towards the repayre of the Causey iij s iiij d. Item I give and
bequeath unto Alice Allingham my daughter fortie poundes the halfe to
be payd at the daie of her maryage and the other halfe that daie twelve moneth
after. I bequeath unto Henry Allingham my sonne fortie poundes of my
g(uifte) legasie and in lue of all the legacies that was given him by his
granfather and his father to be paide at seaven years end. I bequeath unto
Luke Allingham my sonne fortie poundes to be paide at the end of fifteene
yeares. Item I give and bequeath unto Gabriell Allingham my sonne
thirtie poundes to be paide at six yeares end. Item I give and bequeath
unto Alice Allingham my wyfe three milch keene and tenn sheepe and three
matrices and halfe a dosen paire of sheetes and halfe the brasse and pewter
and halfe the trene vessels of what names soever they be of, a forme
and halfe a headed trusse bedd. Item I make ordaine and constitute Michaell
Allingham my eldest sonne to be myne executor of all my goods moveable
and unmovable not bequeathed afore my body honestlie brought
to the grave and funerall expenses discharged. Item my will is that
Michaell Allingham myne executor and eldest sonne shall plow and
till the third parte of all my land which shalbe the thirds and porcon
of my wyfe and shall doe it in all respects as he shall doe his
owne during the tyme that she shall remaine a widow with all
manner of charges whatsoever. Item I make Thomas Ryseley and
John Parkes ov[er]seers of this my will and testament. Item I give
and bequeath unto Thomas Riseley and John Parks xij d a peece. In
witness I put to my hand the daie and yeare above written before
these witnesses. Item my will is that my executors shall see Alice
Allingham my mother be kept duringe her naturall life. John Allingham
and Thomas Riseley.
