Thomas Bletsoe - Will 1710


In the name of god Amen I Tho Bletsoe of Newton [Bromswold] Clerk being at present sick & Infirm in body but of perfect memory blessed be god do make this my last will and Testament Imp: I give my soul to god my maker & to Jesus Christ my mercyfull & powerfull redeemer & my body to the ground in a lively hope of a Glorious resurrection & for what I have in this world I do bequeath as followeth: Imp: I give unto Tho Bletsoe my son the advowson of the parsonage of Newton & to his Heirs for ever provided he can gett Qualified to be minister there: but if it happen otherwise & that Dorothy my Daughter shuld be married to a Clergy man: I disire her husband (if she be then living) should have one Presentation: Item I give unto Dorothy my Daughter: all that Estate I purchased of Willm Whittick during the life of her Grandmother & after the decease of her Grandmother I give it to my son Tho Bletsoe his heirs & assigns for ever: Item I give unto Dorothy my Daughter that Estate in Bozeat as it was settled in hir mothers Joynture hoping nevertheless at her Br[other]s Request she will accept her portion in money not exceeding six hundred pounds: that my name may be named upon that in heritance at least that she (if disired) would exchange with him for Lords farm in Riseley: Item I disire my loving Friends Mr Wm Beadles of Hardgrave & Mr Tho Negus of Shelton to be overseers of this my Will & I enjoyn my son to be advised & directed by them in Presenting to the Living of Newton & to take a bond of resignation & if it may be to reserve something towards his charges at Cambridge & I do injoyn him bountyfully to reward my said F[rien]ds for any trouble they shall be at Item I give unto Dorothy my Daughter all the furniture in the Matted chamber together with half the linen in the house & one silver Tankard & a little dressing box and the silver things in itt except the silver spoones which together with all my other stock & moveables I bequeath unto Tho Bletsoe my son whom I also ordain sole Executor to this my last Will and Testament signed sealed declared & published to be my last will & Testament this twenty fift day of July in the year of our Ld
