John Hawks - 1787 will

In the name of God Amen I John Hawks of Chelveston cum Caldecot in the County of Northampton Blacksmith Do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I give unto all the children of my late daughter Kezia Poole  Deceased that shall or may be living twelve Months after my Decease the sum of One Shilling Each to be paid unto them by my Executor Twelve Months after my Decease Also I Give Devise and bequeath All those my three Pieces or Parcels of Meadow Ground situate lying and being in Irthlingborough March Meadow in the County of Northampton aforesaid containing by Measure together Three Roods and Thirty seven Poles or thereabouts with all rights privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging Unto my Son John Hawks to him and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane Hawks All my Household Furniture of all sorts to her and to her Heirs forever If she should be living at the time of my Decease But if she should Die before the time of my Decease then I Give all the Household Furniture aforesaid unto my Son Timothy Hawks Also I Give unto my said Daughter Jane Hawks the Sum of Twenty Pounds to be paid unto her by my Executor (herein after named) twelve Months after my Decease Also I Give Devise and bequeath All That my messuage or Tenement that I now live in (my Parlour Excepted) with the Orchard And all the Out buildings  Conveniences and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate and being in the parish of Chelveston cum Caldecot aforesaid Unto my said Son Timothy Hawks to him and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever but my Will is that my said Daughter Jane Hawks shall have My Parlour before Excepted for her own private Use for and During the term of her natural Life If she so long continues unmarried But at the time of her marriage Or at the time of her Decease Or at the time that shall first happen of them I Give Devise and bequeath the said Parlour unto my said Son Timothy Hawks to him and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever And my Will is that my said Son Timothy Hawks shall keep the Parlour aforesaid in good repair (that is to say) in Thatching and all other repairs During all the time that it shall be my said daughter Jane’s as aforesaid Also all the rest residue and remainder of my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what kind nature or sort soever the same may or do Consist of at my Decease and not herein before given away I give and bequeath the same unto my said Son Timothy Hawks for ever He paying and Discharging all my just Debts Legacies aforesaid and my Funeral Expenses and Also keeping the Parlour aforesaid in good repair according to the true intent and meaning of this my Will Also I Nominate and appoint my said Son Timothy Hawks Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have to this my true last Will and Testament set my Hand and Seal the Sixteenth Day of November in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Two.

Probate granted - Nov 16th 1787 Timothy Hawks the above named Executor appeared and made saith for the due execution of the above written Will, that the amount of the Testator’s personal Estate was under one hundred Pounds at the time of his Death; that he will make a true Inventory of All the goods chattels & Personal Effects of the deceased Testator & exhibit the same unto the Register’s Court at Northampton within six months from this date & will render a just Acct. of his Administration when thereunto lawfully called before me W. Procter A.M. Surrogate
