In the name of god amen the second daye of Apryll and in the yere of our Lorde god 1598 and in the fourtieth yeare of the Quenes
___es Rayne ___ that {damaged} wytnesset that I Henry Chettell of Chelveston in the countey of Northamton husbandman
being seyke in body and of goode and p[er]fytt memory thanks be unto allmyghtey god for the same dothe constitute & make
thys my laste wyll and testyment in manner and forme folloyng. Fyrste I bequeath my sole unto almyghttey god
and to hys sone Jesus Chryst my only savyour & redeemer and in whome I truste to be saved and to be _____yter of the
kyngdome of heven and theyre to have my everlasting lyff my goods I leve unto the world and my bodye to be beyred
in the churche yard of St John baptys in Chelveston and Caldecott & c. Item I gyve and bequeath to the repare of belles xij d.
Item I gyve to the pore mans boxe xij d. Item I gyve unto my sone John Chettell the bede that nowe he and hys wyffe lyeythe
in with all the furniture theyr to belonging also I gyve unto the sayd John my sone the closse next the layne the which I
holde by leace of Robard Ekyns of Caldecott after my desesse for the terme of the yeres in the lease. Item I gyve my sone John
twoo of my beaste horses and one of my beaste mylche besse* a yerelyng bullocke and a weenynge calffe. I gyve unto my sone
iij aker of barley iiij aker of pease and one aker of wheeyth to be indefferenlly sett of my croppe by Wm Coke and
Rychard M[er]chant. Item I gyve unto sone John iij aker and (vij) rood of lande that I bowtgte called Lamese lande to (hym)
and to hys heyres for ever and also I gyve unto the sayde John my sone viij aker and a halfe of lane that I holde by
coppye of the Quenes m____. Item I gyve to Katteryne my dafter my second fether bed & my beste brasse pane & one (cowe)
all theys to be delivered after the dethe of my wyffe. Item I gyve unto Robard Througthorne sone of Robard Througthorne
sone in lawe one cowe bullocke. Item I gyve Jane Chetell dafter of Roman Chettell my son one hewe lame hogge**. Item I gyve to
Catteryne Chettell dafter to the same Roman one hew lame hogge and I gyve Margett Chettell dafter to the same Roman one
hew lame hogge and I gyve Elyzabeth Chettell dafter to the same Roman one hewe lame hogge theys to be delivered
presently after my dessece. Item I gyve to John Chettell my sone my second showde carte to be delivered after my dessece. Item I gyve to Amy Wolton (servant) to John Atkyns of Stanwycke one bushel of barley. Item I gyve to Elyn Atkyns my goddafter one busshell of barley. Item I gyve to John Chettell my sone ij payre of flaxson shetts ij payre of (harden) shetts one cheste and one coffer all these to be delivered after the dessece of hys mother.
