Henry Chattell - Will 1598

In the name of God Amen the second day of
Aprill and in the yeare of our lord god 1598 and in the fortieth yeare of the Queenes
Maiesties raigne that now ys and witnesseth that I Henry Chattell of Chelveston in
the countie of North[amp]ton husbandman being sicke in body and of good and perfect memory
thankes be unto almightie god for the same doth constitute and make this my
last will and testament in manor and forme followinge first I give and bequeath my
soule unto god almightie and to his sonne Jesus Christ my onely saviour and redeemer
and in whom I trust to be saved and to be an inheritor of the kingdom of heaven and ther
to have my everlasting lyfe my goodes I leave unto the world and my body to be buryed
in the churchyeard of St John baptis in Chelveston and Caldecot. Item I give and bequeath
to the repaire of the bells xij d Item I give to the poore mans box xiij d Item I give unto
my sonne John Chattell the bed that now he and she his wyfe lyeth in with all ye
furniture therto belonginge also I give unto the said John my sonne the closse next the
layne the which I hold by lease of Robert Atkyns of Caldcott after my decease for
the tearme of the yeares in the lease Item I give my sonne John two of my best horses
and one of my best melch bease a yerelinge bullocke and a weenynge calfe I give
unto my sonne John three akers of barley four akers of  peesse and one aker of wheate
to be indifferently set of my croppe by Willm Coke and Richard Marchant Item I
give unto my sonne John three akers and one roode of lande that I bowtht called lampe
land to him and to his heires for ever and also I give unto the saide John my
sonne eight akers and a halfe of lande that I hould by coppie of the Queens ma[jes]tie
Item I give to Katherin my daughter my second fetherbed and my best brasse pan
and one cow all these to be delivered after the decease of my wyfe Item I give
unto Robert Throngthorne sonne of Robert Throngthorne my sonne in lawe on
cowe bullocke Item I give to Joan Chattell daughter of Roman Chettell my sonne one
one ewe lambe hogge Item I give Katherine Chettell daughter of the same Roman
on ewe la[m]be hogge and I give Margreat Chettell daughter to the same Roman one
on ewe lambe hogge and I give Elizabeth Chettell daughter to the same Roman
one ewe la[m]be hogge theis to be delivered presently after my decease Item I give to
John Chettell my sonne my second shewde carte to be delivered after my decease
I give to Amy Wolton servant to John Atkins of Stanwyke one bushell of barley
Item I give Elline Atkyns my goddaughter one bushel of barley Item I gyve to John Chettell my
sonne two paire of flaxon sheetes two payre of hardon sheetes one chest and one coffer
all these to be delivered after the decease of his mother Item I give Robert Throngthorn
sonne of Robert Throngthorne* my sonne in lawe one ewe and a lambe Item I give Jhon
Chettell my sonne one of the best store hogges now in the yearde Item I give Katherine
my daughter on brasse potte the rest of my goods and chattel unbequeathed my debts
paide I give unto Katherine my wyfe and Roman my sonne whom I  doe make full executors
of this my last will and testament and I doe desire and make Anthony Aborne and Rich:
Marchant overseers to see this my will performed & my debts payde in witnesse hereof
John Atkyns, John Wode, Henry Chettlee, Alexsander Atkynes.
