Scouts

Rushden Echo & Argus, 17th November 1944, transcribed by Kay Collins

Scouting—A meeting to inaugurate a Boy Scout troop was held in the school last Friday. It is hoped to hold weekly meetings and that scouting will flourish again in the village. The Rev. C. Ayton Williams will be Scouter in charge.

Chelveston Scout group was run by the vicar, and they went on a camping trip to Heacham in about 1950.

Ken Allan who is holding the LH side of the troop flag, thinks it was taken in August 1948 and they were taking their semaphore (hence the flags) and Morse code proficiency badge.
