Girl Guides

Rushden Echo & Argus, 24th November 1944, transcribed by Kay Collins

The Girls’ Club which [held] a party on Wednesday just 12 [months] after its formation, is now formed into a Girl Guide Com[pany] with Mrs. C. A. Williams as [captain] and Mrs. Mason as lieutenant. The girls, who have learned [...] making and engaged in folk [dancing] and physical exercises, will [take part] in the County Choral Fest[ival at] Northampton. Their club [fund] of £3 18s. 5d. will form the […] of the Guide Company.

Chelveston Guides
Mrs. Tarrant, District Commissioner of Girl Guides, visited Chelveston to enrol seven Guides and seven Cubs into the local Company. After the ceremony a demonstration Girl Guide evening was conducted by the captain, Mrs C A Williams. There were games, competitions, refreshments and a bring-and-buy stall, three guineas being raised for the Guide funds.
