Disaster struck these cottages at Chelveston last Friday afternoon, when they collapsed.

Standing on the village green, three of these 250-year-old dwellings caved in, the fourth and only one occupied, remaining undamaged. No one was hurt. Here workmen are undermining the foundations of a chimney before it, too, comes crashing to the ground.
